Four-Horned Sheep
Four-Horn Sheep (Ovis sp.) - Sometimes referred to as Jacob’s Sheep, this animal was developed as a domestic sheep breed in ancient times. The name reflects the most noticeable trait of this sheep…4 horns! The origin is not definitively known other than the first literature on this sheep from the 1700’s refers to a “…Spanish sheep with 4 horns.” The coloration of its wool varies from black to brown to white with spots of various color patterns. The females may or may not have 2 or 4 horns. The horns have many configurations in any herd from flaring to tight curl. They are truly a unique animal!!
